Community Members Are Invited to Volunteer With The Akron Marathon
Akron, OH (September 16, 2013) – The 11th Annual Akron Marathon, presented
by Time Warner Cable, has a variety of exciting volunteer spaces available
for its upcoming events.
These include:
Health and Fitness Expo, John S. Knight Center, Friday, September 27:
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
2 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Akron Marathon Finish Line, Saturday, September 28:
6 a.m. -1:30 p.m.
Akron Marathon Kids Fun Run, Saturday, September 28:
7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
"Volunteering is a great way for the community to get involved in the Akron
Marathon, which has become a staple event in Akron," said Amy Freeman, vice
president of the Akron Marathon. "More than 2,000 volunteers will play a
vital role in making this event a success."

There will be two volunteer training sessions that will each last
approximately one hour. The training sessions will be held at Mason Park
Community Learning Center (700 East Exchange Street, Akron, OH). Volunteers
only need to attend one of these trainings. These will be held on
Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 21, 2013,
9:30 a.m.
About the Akron Marathon
The Akron Marathon includes four events: the full marathon, the half
marathon, the five-person team relay and the kids fun run. The 11th annual
Akron Marathon, presented by Time Warner Cable, will be held September 28,
2013. Registration is available at akronmarathon.org.
The Akron Marathon is organized by the Akron Marathon Charitable
Corporation, a nonprofit group that is dedicated to promoting health and
