"I couldn't be happier with the across-the-board outcomes of our 10th
anniversary event" stated Lee Corrigan, the event's Executive Director and
President of Corrigan Sports Enterprises. "Without the unwavering support
we receive from city and state agencies, along with our sponsors, the Under
Armour Baltimore Running Festival would not exist. The fact that this event
has generated almost $163 million for our local and state economies since
we started in 2001 is a direct reward for all of the hard work thousands of
people put into this magnificent day and once again confirms our formula
for success."
The charitable proceeds generated by the event topped $1M for the first
time ($1,030,000) in one year. Special Olympics Maryland, The United Way of
Central Maryland, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Helping Up Mission,
Parks and People, Sadie’s Gift, Badges for Baseball, and Big Brothers, Big
Sisters of Central Maryland are some of the area’s benefiting charities.
More than $6 million has been raised for charity since the event’s
inception.
For the fourth straight year, all of the event’s races sold out. Online
registration for the 2011 Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival will open
this Monday, December 13th and another record-breaking field is expected.
Next year the Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival will take place on
Saturday, October 15th throughout the streets, neighborhoods and historic
sites of Baltimore.
