Press Release - Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon - 2/2/11

     Stafford to Make Guinness World RecordTM Attempt, Hoping to Achieve  
        Fastest Time for a 26.2mi Marathon while Carrying a 40lb Pack

Tony Stafford, dedicated marathon runner and and professional marathon 
pacer sets out to achieve global record on March 27, 2011 at the Bataan 
Memorial Death March Marathon in While Sands, New Mexico to try to raise 
awareness for neurological disorders

BOULDER, COLO. (For Immediate Release)  -  Against the striking backdrop of 
the San Andres Mountains, on March 27th, Tony Stafford will attempt to 
break the 20-year old record of the fastest race while running through the 
desert with a 40lb pack on his back. The Bataan Memorial Death March is set 
to host upwards to 6000 people and takes place at the White Sands Missile 
Range, New Mexico, conducted in honor of the heroic service members who 
defended the Philippine Islands during World War II, sacrificing their 
freedom, health and lives.

Stafford aims to trump the record set on April 21, 1991 by Paddy Doyle (UK) 
at the London Marathon.  When it comes to pack contents, Tony will load it 
up with 40lbs of non-perishable food, all to be donated to the Community 
Action Agency Food Bank; New Mexico's largest food bank.

overwhelming experience. I am grateful to meet these veterans who 
sacrificed their own lives for the betterment of others is just a once in a 
lifetime experience. To have the opportunity to attempt this record in 
front of such respected and loved veterans and active military personnel is 
incredibly humbling. I am tremendously honored to be able to attempt this

Working together with Outdoor Mindset, a local Boulder, CO non-profit with 
a mission of uniting and inspiring those facing neurological challenges to 
live big through a common pass for outdoor adventure, Stafford hopes to 
raise awareness for the organization and assist them in realizing their 
goal of raising $25k (by March 31st) to support their mission.
