Gilpin Three-Peats at Go! St. Louis Marathon
Lossos women's marathon champion; Macias sets men's half-marathon record;
Kramer women's half-marathon winner
ST. LOUIS - (April 11, 2010) - Karl Gilpin, 31, from Russellville, MO
captured his third GO! St. Louis Marathon title in a time of 2 hours, 25
minutes, 41 seconds on Sunday morning. Gilpin previously won the men's
marathon in 2007 and 2008. He becomes the first Open division athlete to
win three times in the history of the 10-year-old event. On the women's
side, it was another repeat champion - Julie Lossos, who also won the
women's GO! St. Louis Marathon in 2001. Lossos finished in 2:52:31.
A new men's half-marathon record was established by Mario Macias, who
finished in 1:05:09. Macias, 29, from Alamosa, CO, out-paced two-time
winner Mathew Chesang, who ran 1:06:49. Chesang won the men's half-marathon
title in 2007 and 2008. In the women's half marathon, Mariska Kramer, 35,
from the Netherlands crossed the line in 1:17:23, which was one second
faster than defending champion Kelly Handel Williamson from Austin, TX.
Handel Williamson was trying to win three straight women's half-marathon
titles.
More than 17,000 participants registered for the 2010 GO! St. Louis
Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay. And more than 23,000
participants competed in one of the ten different events over the two-day
weekend fitness celebration.
The GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend is an event that was created for
all ages and fitness abilities and features a marathon - presented by

The 2011 GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend will be held on April 9-10.
