Registration Closed for Grandma's Marathon
(Duluth, Minn.) For the 13th consecutive year, Grandma's Marathon has
reached its capacity, and registration for the 26.2-mile race is now
officially closed. Entries for the 31st annual event, to be held on
Saturday, June 16, are no longer being accepted.
More than 9,500 runners will compete in the nation's 12th largest marathon,
which begins at 7:30 a.m., near Two Harbors, Minn., and travels a course
along Scenic Highway 61, through downtown Duluth and finishes in Canal
Park.
The field is also full for both the 17th annual Garry Bjorklund Half
Marathon and the 14th annual William A. Irvin 5K. Registration for the
Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, held June 16 at 6:30 a.m., was conducted
through a random lottery system in which 4,500 applicants were selected.
Registration for the William A. Irvin 5K, scheduled for Friday, June 15 at
6 p.m., closed in mid-April after reaching its field limit of 1,200.
During the multiple-event weekend, more than 17,000 athletes are expected
to participate. For more information on Grandma's Marathon weekend visit
