OLYMPIC MEDALIST ROD DIXON AND
ULTRA-MARATHONER DEAN KARNAZES
HIGHLIGHT RUN/EX/09 OPENING SATURDAY
LOS ANGELES, California, May 21, 2009 – One of the largest racing
expositions in the world, the Los Angeles Marathon's Run/Ex/09 will take
place on Saturday and Sunday, March 23-24 in the South Hall of the Los
Angeles Convention Center.
More than 150 exhibitors will offer innovative demonstrations and
state-of-the-art products and services on running, health, fitness and
lifestyle improvement in more than four acres of floor space over the two
days. Admission is free, with the exposition open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on
Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Highlighting the two-day program are presentations on the Whole Foods
Market Stage by the Goodwill Ambassador of the Los Angeles Marathon, Rod
Dixon, the 1972 Olympic 1,500-meter bronze medalist and himself a champion
marathoner, who will offer insights on both Saturday and Sunday on race-day
motivation and the 2009 Los Angeles Marathon route. Ultra-marathoner Dean
Karnazes will speak at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday after having run 100 miles to
the Convention Center from Santa Barbara in the preceding 24 hours!
Run/Ex/09 is the final opportunity for runners and cyclists to register for
the Los Angeles Marathon and ACURA LA Bike Tour, respectively. There will
be no race-day registration for those events. Registration will also be
available for the LA 5K Run/Walk, although there will be race-day
registration available for that event.
Of special note is the Springfield Kids Corner, an area where young and old
alike can decorate cheer cards for their parents, aunts, uncles, friends
and others who will run in the Marathon. Plus, a lively seminar program
covers important topics for those who will run the Marathon on Monday...
