Honda Creating Lead Vehicles with Names of all Marathon Runners
for March 20 Race
First-ever moving marquee will include names of
all runners registered by February 18
LOS ANGELES, February 11, 2011 – Ever wanted to see your name at the front
of a major marathon race? Now you can...if you've registered for the
Honda LA Marathon presented by K-Swiss by noon, Pacific Standard Time, on
Friday, February 18.
"We wanted to salute the thousands of runners who have made the commitment
to cover the 26.2 miles of the Stadium to the Sea course, and so we are
covering two of our all-new 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite minivans with
the names of everyone registered by noon on February 18," said Honda
Corporate Community Relations manager Erik Wedin.
"The name-covered Odysseys will be shown publicly during the pre-Marathon
Expo at Dodger Stadium on March 18-19 and we invite runners to come and
take pictures of themselves next to their name. On raceday, the Odysseys
will be part of our lead vehicle fleet for the 2011 Honda LA Marathon
itself, putting the names of thousands of runners ahead of even the
elite-athlete field."
To showcase the more than 20,000 names, the two all-white Odyssey Touring
Elite minivans will be covered with the names of every runner registered by
the February 18 deadline, arranged in alphabetical order by last name, with
half of the names on each vehicle.
LA MARATHON LLC chief operating officer Nick Curl added that "This is a
really unique and innovative way for Honda to celebrate our thousands of
runners from across the nation and around the world. We’re delighted to
have the name-covered Odysseys at the front of our race on March 20."
Of course, time is short for those who have not yet registered and want to
have their name included on the Odysseys: February 18 is coming up on
Friday, and the race is rapidly filling up. Quick and easy online

race on the iconic Stadium to the Sea course that will begin at Dodger
Stadium, run through Chinatown, downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo,
Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Veterans Administration
property in West Los Angeles and finishs on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica.
