Preliminary Schedule of Media Events for the 2011 Honda LA Marathon
LOS ANGELES, March 10, 2011 - A lively schedule of events for accredited
media for the 2011 Honda LA Marathon is planned as follows, but is subject
to change:
Thursday, March 17:
> 09:00 a.m.: Credential and information pick-up in the Dodger Stadium
Stadium Club, until 6 p.m. Please enter at the Sunset Gate (Elysian Park
Drive) and park in Lot L; parking is free.
> 10:00 a.m.: News conference on the "State of the Marathon" with Nick
Curl, chief operating officer of LA MARATHON LLC in the Dodger Stadium
Stadium Club.
Friday, March 18:
> 09:00 a.m.: Credential and information pick-up in the Dodger Stadium
Stadium Club, until 6 p.m. Please enter at the Sunset Gate (Elysian Park
Drive) and park in Lot L; parking is free.
> 10:00 a.m.: Los Angeles Marathon Expo, opens with more than 100
exhibitors in Lot 6 at Dodger Stadium, until 8 p.m. Admission is free.
> 10:00 a.m.: News conference with elite athletes participating in the 2011
Honda LA Marathon, in the Dodger Stadium Stadium Club.
Saturday, March 19:
> 08:15 a.m.: LA Big 5K Run/Walk, beginning in Lot G at Dodger Stadium.
> 09:00 a.m.: Credential and information pick-up in the Dodger Stadium
Stadium Club until 6 p.m. Please enter at the Sunset Gate (Elysian Park
Drive) and park in Lot L; parking is free.
> 09:00 a.m.: Los Angeles Marathon Expo, continues in Lot 6 at Dodger
Stadium, until 6 p.m. Admission is free.
> 10:00 a.m.: News conference featuring Yvonne Holder
(tri-world-record-holder for completing 106 marathons in a year), Kelly
Gneiting (sumo wrestler trying to get a world record for heaviest person to
complete a marathon), Joe D'Amico (trained the last 30 days prior to the
race by eating only at McDonald's), and others, in the Dodger Stadium
Stadium Club.
Sunday, March 20:
> 6:00 a.m.: Raceday media center opens in the Wedgewood Ballroom of the
Fairmont Miramar Hotel, located at Wilshire Boulevard and Ocean Avenue in
Santa Monica. Credential pick-up will be available at this location. There
will be a reduced hotel charge of $7.70 for the day for parking. The media
center will close at 3:00 p.m.
> 6:30 a.m.: Loading of vehicles for on-the-course coverage of the men's
and women's lead packs, in Lot G at Dodger Stadium.
> 6:55 a.m.: Start of the Honda LA Marathon wheelchair field.
> 7:11 a.m.: (time approximate) Start of the Marathon women's elite field,
to be followed at 7:29 p.m. by the start of the rest of the field.
> 9:50 a.m.: (time approximate) Awards Ceremony at the finish line at Ocean
Avenue and California Avenue, to be followed by interviews with the top
three placers in the men's and women's races in the Wedgewood Ballroom of
the Fairmont Miramar.
Complimentary Wi-Fi service will be available in the Dodger Stadium Stadium
Club from Thursday-Saturday and in the Wedgewood Ballroom of the Fairmont
Miramar on Sunday for media use.
