Two New Course Records at 6th Annual Madison Marathon
The Madison Marathon - July 28 - Ennis, MT
Jimmy Grant, 35, of Missoula, MT, won The Highest Road Marathon in America
with a time of 3:08:48. Grant, winner of the 2010 City of Trees Marathon
(2:32:02), broke the Madison course record of 3:12:28 set last year by Gary
Krugger. Krugger, 28, of Flagstaff, AZ, was runner up this year with a
time of 3:38:03, and placing third was Mark Raymond, 23, of Bozeman, MT
with a time of 3:39:01.
Susan Loken, 50, of Phoenix, AZ, placed first in the women's race setting a
new course record time of 3:49:12, besting the previous record of 3:53:33
set in 2010. Loken is a 4-time USATF Masters Marathon Champion. Emma
Horton, 22, of Bozeman, MT, finished second in 4:26:58, and the third place
award went to Heidi Kriss, 38, of Lakes Tapps, WA with a time of 4:33:55.
With the completion of the 6th annual edition, no runner has yet been able
to post a sub-3:00 time and claim the bonus winner's prize in this very
challenging high altitude mountain road course.
