Marathon Runner Wears Superhero Cape to
Inspire Others to a Healthier Lifestyle
Michigan-based PowerCapes.com customizes capes for "Endorphin Dude"
Livonia, Mich. (March 7, 2011) – If you've ever watched or participated in
a marathon, you've probably noticed runners in all types of name brand
sportswear and gear. However, marathoner and San Francisco resident Tony
Nguyen has created his own brand as "Endorphin Dude" by sporting a
superhero cape, made and customized by Michigan-based PowerCapes.com.
Nguyen, 37, is passionate about running and about his brand. He's even
created his own blog, www.endorphindude.com, to describe his passage from
living an unhealthy lifestyle of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and
diabetes to being physically fit and medication-free.
"I thought I was having a heart attack two years ago," said Nguyen. "It
motivated me to start walking my dog a few blocks and then a few miles a
day, to jogging and eventually to running marathons."
Nguyen shared that he never considered himself athletic and added, "I was
the fat kid who always got picked last in PE, which is the reason I want to
motivate and inspire others to live healthy." For 2011, his goal is to run
in 52 marathons.
"Someone gave me a cape as a gag gift," added Nguyen. "I wore my first
'generic' cape during a Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon in Dallas last March.
Later in the year, I connected with PowerCapes.com, which made me my first
'Endorphin Dude' branded cape for the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon in Las Vegas
this past December."
According to Nguyen, the response from other runners and people on the
sidelines was overwhelming. And, people are starting to recognize him now.
"I'm more of a recreational marathoner. I'm usually in the back of the
pack, and I'm okay with this. Let's just say that I won't be qualifying
for Boston or the Olympic team anytime in the near future," said Nguyen.
"Wearing a superhero cape helps me motivate other runners, especially those
new to marathons, to get through those last few miles which can be the
toughest."
During 2011, Nguyen plans to raise money for the Peninsula Humane Society
in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he found his dog, a chihuahua and
dachshund mix that helped him start leading a healthier lifestyle. Anyone
is welcome to donate online at

Owners of PowerCapes.com are pleased to share the "Endorphin Dude" story,
because it demonstrates that superhero capes can be customized for children
and adults.
"We've learned from our customers that it doesn't matter what your age or
cause may be when you put on one of our capes," said Justin Draplin,
managing partner of PowerCapes.com. "People are immediately transformed
into superheroes."
