Registration for 35th Marine Corps Marathon Opens Online Beginning April 7

QUANTICO, VA (March 30, 2010) – Runners from across the country and around
the world are invited to register for the landmark 35th Marine Corps
Marathon (MCM) on Oct. 31, 2010. Online registration opens at noon Eastern
on Wednesday, April 7 at www.marinemarathon.com.
The MCM is limited to 30,000 participants and is expected to fill up
quickly. Registration costs $90 and includes runner's bib with B-Tag timing
device for ten split locations, live results, free text messages, medical
tracking, individual finisher web pages, online finisher certificate,
e-newsletters, mock-neck commemorative shirt, goodie bag, race program,
complimentary shuttle services, free race day parking and
on-course/post-race hospitality.
During registration, runners will have the opportunity to purchase limited
edition MCM training apparel by Brooks Sports, Inc., a subscription to the
new MCM Online Trainer service and tickets to the pre-marathon pasta dinner
known as the Carbo Dining-In, held on Saturday, October 30 at the Hyatt
Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. At the completion of
registration, runners will immediately receive an email confirming entry to
the event. The email will contain a link to the online MCM Hotel/Travel
Desk. Runners are encouraged to book their hotel stay early and take
advantage of savings as large as 28 percent exclusively offered through the
MCM Hotel/Travel Desk.
All runners ages 14 and above can register for the MCM, known as "The
People's Marathon" – an event that hosts runners of all skill levels and
athletic abilities. The MCM is the largest marathon in the world not
offering prize money. Annually, runners participate from all 50 states and
more than 40 countries. The MCM starts in Arlington, VA, and guides runners
through a tour of the nation's capital culminating at the spectacular
finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA.
MCM Weekend events include the Health and Fitness Expo at the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Oct. 29 and
Saturday Oct. 30; the Healthy Kids Fun Run a one-mile run for children ages
6 to 13 in Arlington, VA, on Saturday, Oct. 30; and the MCM10K on Sunday,
Oct. 31. The MCM 10K (6.2 mile) race starts on the National Mall in
Washington, D.C., and shares its finish with the iconic MCM. Online
registration for the Healthy Kids Fun Run and MCM10K starts May 5 at
www.marinemarathon.com.
