Marine Corps Marathon Health & Fitness Expo Open to Runners,
Public Two-day Event Starting Oct. 29 Includes Interactive Exhibits,
Packet Pick-up and Prizes
QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 13, 2010) - Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), MCM10K and
Healthy Kids Fun Run participants, their families and the public are
invited to attend the free Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, Oct. 29 and
Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Hall D of the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
More than 90,000 will attend the Expo from the hard-charging runner to the
motivated first timer and from the event spectator to the military
supporter. More than 250 booths and eye-catching displays of the newest in
exercise products, MCM souvenirs, product samples and health screenings
will be available including unique access to industry experts. Guests can
pose with the Madame Tussaud's wax figure of the MCM's most famous finisher
Oprah, who completed the 1994 MCM in 4:29:15.
While strolling through the Expo, attendees also can obtain a free massage
from Aetna, or a bone density and body composition analysis from Health and
Fitness Expo presenting sponsor GE.
In addition, Expo visitors can talk with experts from the Clif Pace Team or
purchase official MCM apparel from the Brooks Store. American Olympic
marathoner and fastest U.S. marathoner Ryan Hall will be a featured guest
at Expo signing autographs and posing for pictures at the Nissan booth.
The Speaker Series presented Nissan will include long distance running
experts like Hall, and authors, nutritionists, physicians, race
coordinators and the MCM historian. Four-time Emmy Award-winning
broadcaster Larry Rawson will moderate the Speaker Series that will be held
in Room 203 of the Washington Convention Center. The MCM Speaker Series
will be held from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Oct. 30.
A special opening ceremony will be held to open the Expo at 8:30 a.m. on
Oct. 29, to include the awarding of the first MCM SuperSize Goodie Bag!

Voted the best marathon for families, the Marine Corps Marathon honors the
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from
all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize
money, earning the nickname as "The People's Marathon." The MCM is the
fourth largest marathon in the United States and the eighth largest in the
world. The 35th anniversary Marine Corps Marathon will be held on October
