QUANTICO, VA (November 17, 2011) - The Potomac River Running Store of
Reston, VA has conquered the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Team Running Store
Competition for the second year in a row. Held during the 36th MCM on Oct.
30, 2011, the competition featured teams from 15 Virginia, Maryland and
Washington, D.C. running stores. Potomac River Running finished first with
a combined time of 8:46:30. Pacers Corporate came in second with a time of
9:00:22, and sister store Pacers Pentagon Row secured third place with a
time of 9:27:29.
The winning team's members were Adam Condit (2:29:28), Chris Sloane
(2:37:22) and Mary Klaff (3:39:40). Condit finished fifth overall and beat
his 2010 time of 2:31:00. Sloane finished 19th overall in the MCM. The
final team member was Aaron Schwartzbard (2:44:22).
Ray Pugsley, owner of Potomac River Running, says of the competition, "We
are so proud of our crew for once again hanging tough and finishing strong.
It's really nice that MCM offers this unique opportunity for local store
teams to compete -- our team always looks forward to it."
To participate in the competition, the local stores organized a co-ed team
of at least three runners. Scores were calculated by combining the
individual times of the top three finishers, including at least one male
and one female. All scores were based on individual runner chip times.
"The Team Running Store Competition is a great way to share the enthusiasm
for the Marine Corps Marathon with the local running stores who are really
on the front lines supporting the runners," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.
"I am proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of repeat champion, Potomac
River Running."
Potomac River Running's victory will be celebrated with a special in-store
presentation in early 2012 by Nealis and Miles the MCM bulldog mascot.
Previous winners of the Team Running Store Competition include Potomac
River Running of Falls Church, VA, Georgetown Running Company and Pacers.

money, earning the name, "The People's Marathon." The MCM, sponsored by
Brooks, Nissan, Aetna, Arlington, VA and GE, is the fifth largest marathon
in the United States and the ninth largest in the world. No federal or
Marine Corps endorsement is implied.
