FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Marine Corps Marathon Event Program Now Available Online "Salute" Includes
Stirring Profiles, New Course Map, Key Spectator Spots and Weekend Events
QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 3, 2013) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is
introducing an interactive version of the event program "Salute" at
www.marinemarathon.com. The full color 64-page magazine features the
exciting MCM Weekend of events, event-day advisories for runners, key
locations for spectators, the latest in event technology, the new MCM
course map and feature profiles.
The digital version of Salute's articles, advertisements and information
links to online resources with additional details. The event program
contains moving tributes to 2013 MCM Hall of Fame inductees Dick and Rick
Hoyt, four-time MCM finishers known for overcoming challenges met by
cerebral palsy, and the legacy of Marine Maj. Megan McClung, a public
affairs officer who helped establish MCM Forward and the Penguin Award.
Salute also profiles a group of runners who will honor the 241 service
members killed 30 years ago during the Beirut bombing of the Marine
Barracks in Lebanon on Oct. 23, 1983. The program highlights the colorful
pageantry of MCM Weekend, such as the Family Festival in Crystal City, VA,
the MCM10K and Healthy Kids Fun Run, the MCM Finish Festival in Rosslyn, VA
and the many innovative services, products and technologies offered by MCM
sponsors.
The beautifully designed Salute magazine is available online prior to being
distributed from Oct. 24-26 to runners at the three-day Health & Fitness
Expo by GE at the DC Armory. All runners pick up their race day materials,
including their essential runner's bib, baggage sticker and clear plastic
bag and other goodies such as their participant shirt, event program,
commemorative patch and more at the Expo.
Salute is written and designed by the MCM staff, headquartered at Marine
Corps Base Quantico, VA, and serves as a memorable keepsake for MCM
participants and their families.
