Marine Corps Marathon App Updated for 2014 Event
Free App Provides Info and Easy Social Media Access
Throughout MCM Weekend From Oct. 23-26
QUANTICO, VA (Sept. 16, 2014) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is
releasing a redesigned version of the user-friendly MCM App available for
all iPhone and Android mobile devices. The MCM App instantly delivers
essential information including course maps, transportation information,
event schedules, runner tracking capabilities, social media feeds, weather
updates and event-day results. The free app titled "Marine Corps Marathon"
has been updated in partnership with CrowdTorch by Cvent, a wholly-owned
subsidiary that develops, markets, sells and supports Cvent's consumer
event management solutions.
Following its debut in 2013, the MCM App was downloaded at a rate that
ranked it among the top free apps available at the time. The update
provides even greater access to photo sharing capabilities through social
media networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Spectators and event volunteers also can use the MCM App to plan event-day
destinations as the course map includes walking directions and locations
for points-of-interest such as mile markers, water points, food stations
and Metro stations.
To better facilitate ease of access to weekend events, the MCM App
incorporates Parking Panda, the nationwide leader in online parking
reservations. This service allows visitors to purchase parking passes at
convenient locations near the MCM start and finish lines and throughout the
city. Also, through the App, runners can access MCM partner, HAILO, the
world's highest-rated taxi app, to hail and pay for safe transportation
through a smartphone. HAILO will have specially designated pick-up
locations at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by GE at the DC Armory and
in the Rosslyn Finish Festival.
In addition, "Track a Runner" and "Results," displayed on the MCM App,
provide continuous split time updates for every participant, as well as
live results. The MCM App also features video highlights and photos
captured throughout MCM Weekend.
