2001 Volkswagen Mile High City Marathon
Dedicated to Freedom in America Postponed

September 13, 2001, (Denver, CO) 2001 Volkswagen Mile High City Marathon
Race Director, Chuck Trujillo, announced today that Denver's city marathon,
previously scheduled for Sunday, September 16th will be postponed. Event
staff and city officials are working together diligently to secure a new
date for the event. Runners and walkers previously scheduled to participate
are urged to visit www.milehighcitymarathon.com for the latest updates on
the newly rescheduled date as soon as it is made available.

Trujillo remarked today, "In light of the tragic events that occurred in
the Nation this week, the marathon will now be dedicated to freedom in
America. New event T-shirts will be printed with an American flag to
reflect the solidarity of our country during this difficult time. We want
the thousands of runners that will participate in Denver on our new date to
be symbolic of the unity we feel as citizens of the United States."

The 2001 Volkswagen Mile High City Marathon got its start in 1997 when
Trujillo, a former collegiate All-American and professional runner, was
inspired alongside Anton Villatoro, a recently retired Olympic and US
Postal Service professional cyclist, to bring the city of Denver a
world-class international running festival. Since Denver ranks as one of
the most health-conscious cities in the United States, Trujillo and
Villatoro knew the community was prepared to embrace an athletic event of
this magnitude. Together, they garnered the support of Mayor Willington
Webb and other city officials to launch last year's inaugural even that
attracted over 2,000 participants.

This year's running festival has over 1,500 runners and walkers
pre-registered and is expected to reach it's limit of 5,000 participants.
A full marathon (26.2 miles) will be accompanied by a half-marathon (13.1
miles), a 5K, and a Celebrity Kid's Race featuring WB2's official anchor,
Amy Freeze, and former world-class runner, Ellen Hart Pena.

Participants can pre-register online at www.milehighcitymarathon.com, in
person at local running stores, or by mail after picking up an official
entry form at any Noodles & Co. or 24-Hour Fitness location. Pre race
registration will take place in person at a new location to be announced on
the Friday and Saturday preceding the new date between the hours of 10-6 pm.
Day-of-event registration will take place between 5:30am - 7:00am at the
State Capital. The marathon will begin at 7:00 a.m. with all other events
immediately to follow. All events will start at the State Capitol building
on Broadway and will conclude at the City and County Building on Bannock
Street. Registration packets will include an official event T-shirt, a
pre-event party invitation, and a free coupon to "carb-up" with a free
noodle bowl at any of the Noodles & Co. restaurants.

For updated information about the running festival taking place at the 2001
Volkswagen Mile High City Marathon, please log onto the official website at
