NBMA Annouces 2013 Gathering
RICHMOND, VA - The Sports Backers are excited to announce that the National
Black Marathoners Association (NBMA) will host its eighth annual marathon
gathering at the Anthem Richmond Marathon on November 16, 2013. The NBMA
serves as a vehicle for Black Americans to meet en mass at a single
marathon, and the Sports Backers are thrilled to be selected as that
destination.
"Richmond has culture, charm and urban flare, married with a highly
motivated base of fitness enthusiasts. We truly have the makings of a
memorable experience for the members of the National Black Marathoners
Association," said Dwight C. Jones, Mayor of Richmond.
"We're really looking forward to our gathering in Richmond, VA," said Tony
Reed, executive director of the National Black Marathoners Association.
"We've heard nothing but great things about the city's hospitality and the
race's organization."
The NBMA also provides scholarships to a deserving high school boy and girl
distance runner each year. The NBMA has members in 43 states and five
countries.
The National Theater will serve as host to the NBMA during the morning of
the race.
