Press Release - New Year's Eve Marathon - 2/12/13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Years Double Race Donates More than
                $16,000 to Local Charitable Organizations

Allen, Texas – Eight local charitable organizations received more than
$16,000 from The Active Joe, the local race producer of the sold-out New
Years Double running event on December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013. More
than 1,400 runners and walkers braved a cold, wet two days to participate
in back-to-back days of marathons, half marathons, and 5K races at Allen's
Celebration Park, and they collected a 5 1/2 inch round Challenge Plate
medal weighing in at more than one pound of metal for their
accomplishments.

The Allen Parks Foundation was the primary beneficiary of the event and
received $10,000. Jim Waldbauer, the Foundation's President, said, "Allen
Parks Foundation is thrilled to be a part of the New Years Double, an
overwhelmingly successful event, especially since it is held in and
showcases Allen's quality public parks and trails. This event not only
brings out Allen residents but also people from all around the country and
being able to highlight our great parks and trails system to both is
extremely satisfying. The proceeds from New Years Double will go a long way
in allowing the Parks Foundation to further its mission of enhancing parks
and trails around the City of Allen."

Other charities that benefitted from the event, with their donated amounts
include Back On My Feet ($1,700), Sullivan Scholarship Fund in Honor of
Frisco Running Club ($1,100), Allen Lady Eagles Lacrosse Booster Club
($900), Allen Sports Association Girls Lacrosse ($900), iCare ($600), the
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Memory of Jonah Blackwell
($570), and the Allen Sports Association U8 Red Sox team ($250).

The event would not have been possible without great community partners in
its sponsors, including Shop Fairview Texas, Baylor Sportscare and Baylor
Regional Medical Center of Plano, and Whole Foods Market of Fairview.

The Active Joe also recently announced a new event in its 2013 race series,
the Fairview Half Marathon and 5K on April 6, 2013. With a cap of 900 half
marathon and 5K participants, early registrations have skyrocketed and the
event is already half full. This now makes three events produced by The
Active Joe, all benefitting local charities, while providing affordable
racing with quality entrant and finisher items.

Allen Parks Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the
primary purposes to assist the City of Allen and other local organizations
in enhancing the overall park system through expanded development of parks
and recreational programming and to accept land, bequests, rights of way,
and other donations.

The Active Joe was founded by Libby Jones in 2008 with the mission of
providing running outreach to the local community.

The organization produces the New Years Double (December/January), the
Fairview Half Marathon and 5K (April), and The Showdown Half Marathon and
5K (October). All events are located in Collin Country in Texas. Owner
Libby Jones has been an active member of the leadership of the Dallas-Fort
Worth running community for several years, including President of the
Dallas Running Club (2007-2008) and the 2008 RRCA Scott Hamilton
Outstanding National Running Club President by the Road Runners Club of
America. For more information go to www.TheActiveJoe.com.
