Ottawa Race Weekend and MDS Nordion reach the
finish line of a successful partnership
May 27, 2009 – OTTAWA – Run Ottawa today pays tribute to MDS Nordion
as it winds down its role as sponsor of Ottawa Race Weekend’s 2k, 5k
and 10k events.
Run Ottawa's President Susan Longbottom complimented the
organization's long partnership with MDS Nordion.
"Run Ottawa may no longer have MDS Nordion as a title sponsor," said
Susan Longbottom, President, Run Ottawa. "But we've been assured
Ottawa's most community-minded corporation will continue contributing
to the Race Weekend through its fundraising and volunteer efforts."
MDS Nordion's sponsorship began in 1987. The company has not only
sponsored all the 10K events, but is a long-time partner of the Ottawa
Hospital, the Ottawa Race Weekend's official local charity.
"MDS Nordion has been on the journey with us as Ottawa Race Weekend
has grown from a largely regional event to an international race
destination," continued Susan Longbottom. "The success and prestige we
enjoy could not have been possible without this outstanding community
leader."

MDS Nordion will remain the lead sponsor of The Ottawa Hospital's Race
Weekend fundraising campaign. Since 2001 MDS Nordion and its employees
have raised over $660,000 for the Ottawa Hospital.
ABOUT THE OTTAWA RACE WEEKEND
The Ottawa Race Weekend, Canada's premier running festival, combines
competition, participation and fundraising to make a distinctive
contribution to the health of the community. The 2009 Ottawa Race
Weekend welcomed 36,690 participants in seven races, including the
Ottawa Marathon and the MDS Nordion 10K. Run Ottawa, the organization
behind the Ottawa Race Weekend, is run by a volunteer Board of
Directors.
