Kaiser Permanente Pasadena Marathon Race Alert
Key Road Closures throughout Pasadena on Sunday,
March 22nd, 5:00 am to 2 pm
Pasadena, Calif. (March 21, 2009) — The weather forecast is calling for
cool temperatures and intermittent showers for tomorrow's inaugural
Pasadena Marathon presented by Kaiser Permanente as more than 8,000
runners, walkers and cyclists converge on Sunday morning to compete in the
Marathon, Half Marathon, Bike Tour, 5K and Fun Run/Walk. The Start/Finish
Line is located directly in front of Pasadena City College on Colorado
Boulevard. The Finish Line Festival is from 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM on the
college campus, and is free to the public.
Various key streets in the City will be closed to vehicle traffic for the
event starting at 5:30 am. Key closures include:
The Start / Finish Line area on Colorado Boulevard across from Pasadena
City College;
Marengo Avenue from Glenarm to Holly;
Colorado Boulevard in Old Pasadena;
Orange Grove Boulevard in the vicinity of the Tournament of Roses
House;
The Rose Bowl area streets including Mountain Street and Washington
Boulevard;
Orange Grove Boulevard north of the 210 Freeway;
Hill Street between the 210 Freeway and Colorado Boulevard.
The Full and Half Marathon will start at 6:30 AM and sections of the course
will reopen in stages as runners complete each section. For more detailed

by the race can call the City of Pasadena traffic hotline at 626-578-1203
or 626-578-1547 for information on how to enter or exit a specific part of
the City.
The City of Pasadena Fire Department and Police Department will be on hand
throughout the course to help respond to any race participants if needed.
Pasadena Forward and race organizers will have water stations along the
course at approximately every mile beginning at Mile 1.5. Ultima
Replenisher, the official on-course electrolyte drink, will be available
every two miles starting at Mile 4.
