        Events Program for the Volkswagen Marathon Weekend

An array of entertaining activities is set for the 14th edition of the 
Volkswagen Prague Marathon. This year, the program is focused on the 
Marathon Sport Expo at the Výstavišt? fairgrounds in Prague 7 from 
Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 11. 
 
The Marathon Sport Expo is not only where all the participants of Marathon 
Weekend events pick up their start numbers and start bags. This year, it 
will also hold a huge sport show. More than 60 exhibitors will display 
their products and goods at special prices. There will be contests, such as 
power ball, for visitors to take part in. And there will be the Czech 
premieres of European attractions such as the Staropramen Sky Bar - 
literally, a pub suspended 50 meters in the air - as well as the biggest 
covered hall for paintball. In the streets of Prague, there will be an 
attempt to break the world record for the number of people on jumping 
shoes, along with dozens of different sports and other activities every 
day. It's fun the whole family can enjoy - and the entrance is free.
 
The traditional Tesco Pasta Party takes place on Saturday. That same day 
will see the start at the Marathon Sport Expo of the in-line races - the 
competitive 6.5 km race (3 p.m.) and the non-competitive 3 km Ride (3:45 
p.m.). On Sunday at 9:40, the 4.2 km Volkswagen Family Minimarathon will 
also start there and finish in Old Town Square.
 
There'll be plenty of fun in the streets of Prague as well. To stir up the 
atmosphere a day before the race, a big Brazilian-style carnival parade 
will take place. Everybody can join the samba dancers and drummers at 2 
p.m. on Old Town Square on Saturday, May 10.   

Marathon Day itself will be full of music. Various neighborhoods have 
prepared their own festivities for the day and more then 30 musical bands 
will be spread out along the marathon course - helping to ensure that fans, 
runners, and passersby enjoy an unforgettable marathon experience.
