FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2009 marks the anniversary edition of the Prague International Marathon
Running series
The Prague International Marathon is celebrating its 15th anniversary this
year. To mark the occasion, PIM has prepared a number of attractive events
focusing on charity, environment and culture. You can find a list of all
the main events within the 2009 PIM Running series and all their
accompanying projects below. This press release is meant to provide you
with information about upcoming events and the most recent news. We would
like to point out that the Prague International Marathon has received the
International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) Silver Label for
all three main events of the 2009 PIM Running series and became the only
institution in the world with so many events with such recognitions.
On 28 March, several thousands of runners will run through the streets of
Prague as part of the first event of the 2009 PIM Running series – The
Hervis Prague Half Marathon. A discount entry fee of CZK 800 is available
for those who sign up before 28 March. A traditional part of the Prague
Hervis Half Marathon will be the Expo on Palachovo námìstí. We have
received some 4,000 applications so far and more starting numbers are
distributed every day. That is why we recommend using the online
registration form at www.pim.cz.
The Prague Hervis Half Marathon is traditionally accompanied by the Hervis
Prague Corporate Half Marathon with both its relay and team races. The team
of the Czech Republic Police was the gold medalist last year. Please,
follow the basic information about this important athletic event.

Within the celebration of its 15th anniversary, PIM -- in cooperation with
the Prague Airport -- has organised an event that encompasses all previous
PIM activities with an overview of PIM's history presented to the public in
a comprehensive way. The photo and graphic exhibition "Arrivals" has been
created as a joint project of the Prague International Marathon and the
Prague Airport.
The Prague Airport, the official partner of PIM for 2009, has a large
amount of experience in organizing exhibitions. PIM has a big collection of
photographs capturing the 15-year old history of PIM, other running
activities in the Czech Republic and more. The exhibition is therefore a
logical result of this partnership. It will take place in the public spaces
of terminals 1 and 2 and their connecting corridor at the Prague Airport
from 3 May until 28 May 2009.
The exhibition consists of several blocks. The first and largest block
features the best photographs taken throughout the entire existence of PIM.
Another two blocks present well-known and the yet to be published
photographs of Emil Zátopek provided by Dana Zátopková and the company
adidas. You can also see a collection of PIM posters; a new visual image of
PIM designed by the Italian art academy NABA; a display of works by
students from the academy dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Prague
International Marathon and we should not forget about a few great photos
from some of the other European marathons. The exhibition will feature more
than 220 photographs, including 60 large-scale images and some 100 posters
and graphic works. After 28 May part of the exhibition will be displayed in
EU institutions in Brussels within the Czech EU presidency. It will be the
first Czech art exhibition presented in Brussels since the "success" of
"Entropa". The exhibition will be held under auspices of several major
institutions. For detailed information and photographs visit
www.praguemarathon.com/arrivals.
A press conference will be held as part of the opening ceremony of the
exhibition on 5 March in the public spaces of terminal 2. A concert will be
held in cooperation with the Prague Spring festival. Leading public life
and business representatives and athletes will join the opening ceremony.
Organizers of this unique event invite you to see the exhibition. And by
the way... if you recognize yourself on any of the photographs, check with
the local OCÉ center and your image will be printed in the size you
want. The Arrivals is an exhibition you can bring home.
The Prague International Marathon has launched a new website available as
of 16 February. The PIM team designed the web pages based on experience
from the last couple of years and taking into consideration the needs of
the runners and their suggestions. Another important factor shaping web
preparations is the large amount of online registrations. They currently
account for 80% of all registrations and this percentage is continuously
growing. The structure of the new pages corresponds with the needs of
a modern company focusing on sports marketing. Minor adaptations are
planned to address the wishes of the runners and the PIM partners to which
the website is designated in particular.
The new image of PIM has been used to create the graphic design of
www.pim.cz and www.praguemarathon.com.
