SunTrust Richmond Marathon welcomes the Runner's World Magazine editorial
staff back to Richmond. The SunTrust Richmond Marathon is proud to be
selected a destination for the Runner's World Challenge, a 16-week online
training program culminating with the SunTrust Richmond Marathon, for the
second year in a row. The SunTrust Richmond Marathon was the site for the
first-ever Runner's World Challenge in 2009. This year, Runner's World
added the McDonald's Half Marathon to the Runner's World Challenge. More
than 100 readers paid to be a part of the program. Runner's World
Editor-in-Chief David Willey, along with 10 other Runner's World editors,
will be running the SunTrust Richmond Marathon or the McDonald's Half
Marathon.
Greater Richmond ARC stuffs 17,000 bags for race participants. The Greater
Richmond ARC (formerly the Association for Retarded Citizens) was founded
in 1954, and its mission is to create "life-fulfilling opportunities for
individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, in
partnership with their families." The organization has five locations
throughout Greater Richmond, and is made up of four service areas including
Infant and Child Development Services (ICDS), Day Support & After School
Services, ARC Industrial Services, and Camp Baker Services, a full-service

Event to impact traffic throughout Richmond. As the fields for the SunTrust
Richmond Marathon, McDonald's Half Marathon and HCA Virginia 8k have grown,
so has the need for increased street closings to accommodate the thousands
of participants. The primary message that Richmond area motorists should
heed on race day is to travel by interstate whenever possible. For a
complete listing of street closures, visit www.richmondmarathon.org.
