San Diego Team In Training Chapter Invites Runners and
Walkers to Celebrate 10 years of Rock 'n' Roll
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society begins training for the
10th anniversary Rock 'n' Roll Marathon
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (Jan. 8, 2007) - Runners and walkers throughout San
Diego County can receive expert training for the upcoming 10th anniversary
Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
with Team In Training (TNT). The TNT information meetings and "Kick-Off
Party" are the first steps on the road to the rock 'n' roll finish line in
the fight against blood related cancers. Runners and walkers of all
experience levels are invited to attend the TNT informational meetings
beginning in January.
In addition to promoting fun and fitness, the 10-year partnership between
the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and TNT has inspired people to give help and
hope to others. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's TNT is the largest
endurance sport fundraising program and its participants, who are committed
to fighting blood cancer, have raised more than $109 million (net) at the
Rock 'n' Roll Marathon to support the Society's research and patient
services programs. Once all of the TNT runners and walkers cross the San
Diego finish line in June 2007, their fundraising total will reach
approximately $123 million (net).
"The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego is one of the country's most
outstanding venues and has become one of the signature destinations for the
Team In Training program," said Donna Grogan, Senior National Director of
TNT. "Our 10 years of involvement with this event has been mutually
beneficial - each year our program brings thousands of enthusiastic
participants to this race and they, in turn, have raised millions to help
find cures for blood cancer. We're thrilled to be able to play a
significant role in celebrating this major milestone."
Each Team In Training member is matched with an Honored Leukemia Patient,
providing added motivation while training, racing, and raising funds for
research and patient aid programs.
TNT has raised over $140 million (net) for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
through its ten-year partnership with Elite Racing's musical marathons and
half marathons nationwide.
The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon will welcome 20,000 participants from around
North America to San Diego on June 3, 2007. For more information on the
Rock 'n' Roll Marathon visit www.RnRmarathon.com or call Susan Reid or
Ian Monahan at Elite Racing, Inc. 800-311-1255.
