HILTON LIVERPOOL ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL ACCOMMODATION
PARTNER OF THE RUNLIVERPOOL MARATHON 2011.
Organisers of the new RunLiverpool Marathon which takes place in the
Liverpool City Region this coming October, have announced that Hilton
Liverpool will be the official accommodation partner of the RunLiverpool
Marathon 2011.
The landmark property, situated in the heart of the newly remodeled city
centre will become 'Marathon Headquarters' - with a hub of activity taking
place over the weekend of October 7-9.
The RunLiverpool Event Team will use the hotel and its facilities to event
manage the race as well as providing press facilities to national and
international media.
Shuttle buses for participants taking part in the 'Fab Four Mile,' a
four-mile family warm-up jog which takes place in Sefton Park on the day
before the Marathon, will also leave from the hotel on Saturday October 8.
Hilton Liverpool is also the preferred supplier for RunLiverpool's
international travel partner and will accommodate runners from Europe and
the United States during their stay in the city.
Hilton Liverpool boasts 215 guest rooms, which all offer views over the
city or Albert Dock, and is on the doorstep of the Liverpool ONE - with
easy access to the vast array of shops, bars and restaurants the
multi-million pound shopping and lifestyle complex has to offer.
The hotel is also home to The Exchange restaurant, offering high-quality,
seasonal cuisine in modern surroundings, with the option for guests to
relax over drinks in the contemporary Pima bar, which features a spacious
sun terrace.
For runners wishing to stay in peak physical condition, the hotel also
offers a 24-hour Fitness Centre, which is equipped with the very latest
cardio and resistance equipment and free weights.
Alan Rothwell, RunLiverpool Marathon Race Director, said:
"We are delighted to be partnering with Hilton Liverpool. The involvement
of a hotel of this calibre can only add kudos to this international running
event and the profile of the city as a world-class tourist destination and
running centre of excellence."
Scott Montgomery, Sales Manager of Hilton Liverpool added:
'We are pleased to support this event - the international focus fits
perfectly with Hilton Liverpool and we consider ourselves the best-placed
hotel in the city to meet Marathon guests' expectations.'
Event organisers expect that over 30,000 visitors will stay in the
Liverpool City Region during Marathon weekend, contributing to Liverpool's
Visitor Economy industry, which is comprised of hotels, restaurants,
transport, attractions, shopping and nightlife.
The RunLiverpool Marathon is expected to contribute an estimated excess of
£3,000,000 in economic impact to Liverpool and the City Region.
Pam Wilsher, Head of Visitor Economy Development for TMP, Official Tourist
Board for Liverpool City Region, commented:
"The Marathon is going to attract tens of thousands of participants and
spectators to the destination, including first time visitors from the UK
and overseas - so it is extremely encouraging to see big brands such as
Hilton Liverpool throw its support behind this exciting event. A positive
visitor experience will play a vital role in the estimated £3m boost to the
Visitor Economy generated by this event."
