Anthem Shamrock Marathon Sold Out!
Virginia Beach, VA - December 17, 2010 - J&A Racing is excited to
announce that the Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon, to be run at the Virginia
Beach oceanfront on Sunday, March 20, 2011 as part of the Yuengling
Shamrock Marathon Weekend, has reached its participant capacity of 8,500
and has sold out! Since its introduction in 2006, the Shamrock Half
Marathon, now sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, has grown to
be the most popular distance of all the races which comprise the Yuengling
Shamrock Marathon Weekend. That popularity is evident in the fact that the
race closed out two weeks earlier than ever before. Said J&A Racing
co-owner and race director Amy Frostick, "We are extremely pleased with how
well this event has been received by the running community, and we look
forward to another great year!" Other events for the weekend include the
marathon, the TowneBank 8K, the Operation Smile Final Mile, and the
Children's Marathon.
"We are excited to be part of the Shamrock Marathon weekend for the first
time," said C. Burke King, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in
Virginia. "Not only are we pleased to see the event sell out with so many
folks engaged in living a healthy lifestyle, we are also proud to have 50
Anthem associates registered to participate in the race."
The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend is one of four family-oriented
events presented by Virginia Beach based J&A Racing, joining the
Virginia is for Lovers 14K and 1.4 Miler to be held on Saturday, February
12, 2011, the Wicked 10K and Monster Mile to be held on Saturday, October
29, 2011, and the Surf 'n Santa 10 Miler and Frosty's Fun Run to be held on
Saturday, December 3, 2011.
