Press Release - Surf City Marathon - 11/11/08

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SURF CITY USA MARATHON MOVES TO ACCOMMODATE LOS ANGELES RUNNERS
CLUBS & CHARITIES WITH ESTABLISHED TRAINING PROGRAMS GIVEN PRIORITY

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - The Surf City USA Marathon today announced a
major effort to accommodate runners impacted by the Los Angeles Marathon
date change. Already the state's largest oceanfront marathon and half
marathon with more than 16,000 participants, the Surf City USA Marathon is
now the only major "winter" race held in Southern California. The marathon
is staged on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009 and is preceded by a two-day exposition.

"We are working diligently to accommodate as many runners as possible,"
said Surf City USA Marathon General Manager Amy Tomchak. "Special priority
is being given to charities and clubs with established training programs who
are looking for a winter marathon to satisfy their fundraising and training
service obligations."

Several charities have already contacted Surf City: "Team in Training"
(Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies), "Train to End Stroke" (American Heart
Association) and "Team Wellness - The Wellness Community of West Los
Angeles" (cancer support and education). Additionally, a number of clubs
that typically run in Los Angeles are embracing the timing and allure of
Huntington Beach including A Snails Pace, L.A. LEGGERS, LA Running Club and
the LA Runners Club.

Tomchak added that Surf City can handle an additional 1,500 combined
marathon and half marathon runners, but that the race will fill quickly.
Group leaders are encouraged to email Surf City at .

The Surf City USA Marathon, which serves as a "qualifier" for the
prestigious Boston Marathon, is rated among the top marathon experiences in
America by Marathon and Beyond. The award-winning course is scenic and flat
with much of the race taking place on the beachfront running path, but also
featuring the famed pier and Pacific Coast Highway, beauty of the Bolsa
Chica Wetlands and serenity of Central Park. More than 30,000 spectators
from the 48 contiguous states and 19 foreign countries are anticipated to
pack the downtown and outlying areas over Super Bowl Weekend.

Surf culture is infused throughout the venue with bands, boards and the
famous surfboard finishers medallions. The event is held on Super Bowl
Sunday and racing begins at 6:50 a.m. The starting point is on Pacific
Coast Highway, just south of Main St. and the famed pier. More information
is available at www.runsurfcity.com.
