FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOLUALOA TUCSON MARATHON OFFERS DISCOUNT TO PASADENA MARATHON RUNNERS
Tucson, Arizona (November 19, 2008) -- Due to serious health concerns
stemming from the devastating fires in southern California this past
weekend, race organizers for the Kaiser Permanente Pasadena Marathon were
forced to cancel the inaugural event. It is an unfortunate situation for
both runners and organizers alike, and we hope that everyone in the region
remains safe and healthy and the fires subside quickly.
Due to the unforeseen cancellation of the Pasadena Marathon, race officials
for the Tucson Marathon Events have decided to offer a $25 discount to all
competitors who registered for this year's Pasadena Marathon or Half
Marathon. This offer is valid through Monday, December 1, 2008 and can be
applied on-line via the registration page on www.tucsonmarathon.com, or
www.active.com, using a special discount code, TMPASA25. (Please note, the
code is case sensitive and you will be required to provide proof of
registration for the Pasadena Marathon in the form of your bib number,
either on-line while registering or during packet pick-up.)
The Holualoa Tucson Marathon, which is run concurrently with the Damascus
Bakeries Half Marathon and a Marathon Relay, presented by Foot Solutions,
will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008. The races run along the base of
the Santa Catalina Mountain Range in beautiful southern Arizona. Known for
its point-to-point, fast and mostly downhill course, the event is certified
by USATF and is one of the top ten Boston Marathon qualifiers in the
country, with qualifying times being good for two years. The Tucson
Marathon Events typically see around 3,000-4,000 competitors and the
weather is generally ideal for running a late season race.
Pre-race packet pick-up is available at the race Expo on Friday, December
5th, from 12-5pm and on Saturday, December 6th, from 8am-5pm at the Hilton
El Conquistador Resort, race headquarters for the events. A pasta dinner
is offered on Saturday, December 6th from 4-8pm, also at the Hilton El
Conquistador.
Tucson is an easy destination to reach from many locations around the USA,
with numerous flights every day from southern California, and many other
locations in the west.
