Twin Cities In Motion and Partners Raise Over $336,000
in Charitable Contributions in 2010
Donations further youth initiatives and support healthier lifestyles
St. Paul, MN ( January 27, 2011) - Twin Cities In Motion (TCM), together
with its community partners, and training teams, raised $336,702 in 2010,
the organization announced today. Through entry fundraisers, individual
donations, and contributions to the Friends of TCM program, which focuses
its resources toward creating healthy youth through running events, TCM
exceeded its annual contribution goals.
As a non-profit organization, TCM strives to lend a helping hand to other
non-profits in the Twin Cities community. TCM gives support through four
basic components: youth fitness partners, in-kind recipients, athlete
development partners and college scholarship recipients.
"The energy the event creates inspires people to want to share the amazing
feeling of the finish line with our youth - who have a lot to learn from
the power of crossing a finish line," says Stephanie Leonard, Volunteer and
Marketing Director for Bolder Options. "The financial support is a great
boost for us," says Leonard, "but the spirit of the event is what really
benefits Bolder Options and the youth involved in our program."
In addition to monetary donations, goods were donated to TCM's In-Kind
Community Partners, Hand-in-Hand Together, US'Again Clothes Collection
System and the Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN).
US'Again alone collected 3,000 pounds of clothing from this year's race
while EFN received 46,600 pounds of water, bananas, and potato chips for
hungry Minnesotans.
"Since 2003, the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and EFN have partnered
together to bring over 330,000 pounds of product and $5,000 to provide our
hungry neighbors with food and support," says Ted Evans, PR Manager for
EFN.
The fundraiser entry program gives community partners the opportunity to
raise dollars on top of the cost of the Medtronic Twins Cities Marathon and
Medtronic TC 10 Mile entry fees.
Twin Cities In Motion, is the non-profit organization that organizes
running events throughout the year, including the Valentine's Day TC 5K,
100% Irish For A Day TC 5K & TC 10 Mile, Medtronic TC 1 Mile, Red, White &
Boom! TC Half Marathon, Twins Territory 4K, the TC 5K, TC 10K & Medtronic
TC Family Events, Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, Medtronic TC 10 Mile, all
related events and Medtronic TC Kids Marathon program, as a community
