     2007 Medtronic TC 1 Mile Launches Online Registration March 1st at
     12:01 a.m. Race officials anticipate a swift start to registration
     due to this year's increased prize purse and opportunities for
             guaranteed entry into the Medtronic TC 10 Mile.

MINNEAPOLIS - Feb. 28, 2007 - The 2007 running season opens in the Twin 
Cities with the kick-off of the Medtronic TC 1 Mile online registration 
tonight at 12:01 a.m. (March 1st).  The Medtronic TC 1 Mile will take place 
Thursday, May 3rd along the Nicollet Mall in downtown, Minneapolis.  

Registration for the TC 1 Mile is online only at www.MTCMarathon.org.  
The first 600 to register will gain an automatic entry into the Medtronic 
TC 10 Mile on Sunday, October 7.  For a $15.00 registration fee, one-mile 
runners receive a Brooks Podium technical t-shirt, bib and chip.  

The 2007 total prize purse is $5,700.  "The increased prize purse is the 
first step to making the championship portion of this race one of the most 
competitive road miles in the country," Race Operations Manager Brian 
Mastel said.  In the spirit of attracting the regular runner, the race has 
also added new age-group awards for 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over in addition 
to the regular five year increments.  "This is an opportunity for anyone to 
run a unique distance through the gorgeous backdrop of downtown 
Minneapolis," added Mastel.

Again this year, the run will feature wave starts, with the first wave 
beginning at 6:50 p.m. Runners have the option to participate in an age 
group wave or in the mass wave that includes all ages and abilities.  
Participants must be able to finish a 12-minute mile.      

Friends and families are encouraged to come downtown to watch the race at 
one of the Official Cheers Zones along the route.  Brits Pub, The Dakota, 
McCormick & Schmick, and the News Room will feature outdoor seating along 
the Nicollet Mall and special spectator awards throughout the race.  

The Medtronic TC 1 Mile race coincides with the Medtronic Twin Cities 
Marathon registration on May 3rd at Peavey Plaza in downtown, Minneapolis.
