GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon Regular Registration
Deadline - September 15
(Victoria, BC - September 10, 2012) The regular registration deadline for
the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon is just five days away - on
September 15. To date, over 8,100 registrations have been received for all
four events - the Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K Road Race and the Thrifty
Foods Kids Run & Marathon. It is expected that there will be an increase in
registrations over the next five days before the late registration fees
apply.
All four races have been capped -the Marathon is capped at 4,000; Half
Marathon at 6,800; 8K Road Race at 4,000 and the Thrifty Foods Kids Run &
Marathon at 1,000.
"The field this year is vast with a diverse group of ages and goals, which
shows that the event appeals to everyone," says Cathy Noel, General
Manager. "Thanks to the volunteers, sponsors and committee we are hosting
an amazing weekend of events that meet the needs and dreams of the first
time runner, the champions and everyone in between. The participants feed
off the energy and enthusiasm from each other which makes for personal best
times and great memories."
The regular marathon entry fee is $105. The deadline also applies to the
Half Marathon and the 8K Road Race where the fees are $80 and $40. After
September 15 late registration fees will apply - $130 for the Marathon, $90
for the Half Marathon and $45 for the 8K Road Race. The entry fee for the
Thrifty Foods Kids Run & Marathon remains at $15 until October 9.
The 33rd Annual GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon takes place Sunday,
October 7th, 2012. For the fourth year in a row it will host the BC
Marathon Championships. There is $37,300 available in prize money with
$3,000 each going to the top male and female and a $5,000 bonus for a new
men's or women's course record. In 2011 three new course records were set.
Thomas Omwenga set a new men's marathon record in 2:14:33; Lucy Njeri broke
the 22-year women's marathon record in 2:37:56, and Natasha Wodak set a new
women's half marathon record in 1:15:27. For more details, visit
