  IAAF/AL-BANK World Half Marathon Championships, Copenhagen 29 March 2014

            Your World Championships Medal is Only 21.1KM Away!

You don't have to be an elite runner to participate in the IAAF/AL-Bank 
World Half Marathon Championships. For the first time, this prestigious 
race is open to the public and you are invited to join 25,000 other 
recreational runners at the start line. The IAAF/AL-Bank World Half 
Marathon Championships will take place in Copenhagen on the 29th of March 
2014. 

Copenhagen, the cosmopolitan hub of Scandinavia, is well known for its 
perfect mix of medieval charm and urban coolness. The race will start and 
end at the beautiful baroque Christiansborg palace which also houses the 
Danish parliament. The route will take runners through the medieval city 
centre and past significant historical sites and along cobblestoned lanes. 

"The course is fast, flat and scenic. I assure you – this course is the 
perfect setting for making personal bests," says Wilson Kipketer, former 3 
time world champion and world record holder (800m) and the official 
ambassador of the event. Furthermore, the average temperature in Copenhagen 
in March is around 9 degrees celsius making it very conducive for a fast 
time.

The domestic race sold out within two days but runners outside of Denmark 
still have a chance to take part in this world championship mass race. Five 
thousand entries have been earmarked for international runners and these 
can be purchased at the official homepage of the race:

Quick facts: More than 300 elite runners from around 50 nations are 
expected to participate in Copenhagen in 2014. In addition 25,000 
recreational runners from Denmark and abroad will also take part in the 
IAAF/AL-Bank World Half Marathon Championships.
