Description: | Start at Pelham Bay Park and follow the series of paths working their way towards City Island. Following the path towards City Island is about 2 miles. Once you make it to the City Island bridge, cross over to the other side and run back. You can bear right into Orchard Beach which has a series of trails especially towards section 3 of the beach. However, if you continue left, once you get to Pelham Bay horse stables, make a right. You will follow a path which leads into Westchester County. This path is about 2 miles each way. You can make the run a short one by only following the City Island path or you can make it a long run by incorporating the Shore Road path. There are also some nice hills which provide a great place to get in some hill repeats. Dont be surprised if on your run you come across some deer, wild turkey`s, racoons, geese and rabbits. I have even seen a coyote but I was in a car and not on a run. Just think, you can get all this nature and wildlife without having to leave the city. |
