          A1A Marathon To Capitalize On Fort Lauderdale Brand

Fort Lauderdale, FL - The A1A Marathon and Half Marathon enhances its image 
simply by adding two words to the front of its name: Fort Lauderdale.  

It has been one year since Mathew Lorraine and Chris Colgan purchased 
Exclusive Sports Marketing, the company that organizes the A1A Marathon and 
Half Marathon, and what they began to realize was as much as coastal locals 
know where "A1A" is, many do not.  "We get a lot of people who think it's 
the 'AYA Marathon,' or the 'A eye A Marathon,' this is what made us rethink 
calling the marathon just the 'A1A Marathon,'" said Colgan, President, 
Exclusive Sports Marketing.  

There are two other South Florida Marathons: the Marathon of the Palm 
Beaches, and the ING Miami Marathon, both easily identifiable utilizing 
their respective destinations for marketing.  With Fort Lauderdale evolving 
into a very trendy destination where casual meets luxury it makes sense to 
borrow from the Fort Lauderdale brand to promote the Marathon. Just in the 
past year several luxury brands have opened along Fort Lauderdale Beach, 
including The Atlantic, Starwood's boutique luxury brand, St Regis, and 
soon a new W Hotel.

"Creating a brand involves more than your target market to choosing you, it 
is also getting to new and potential customers. It is important that 
potential customers see you as the only option because of the unique 
experience you provide. Objectives of a solid brand should include 
delivering your message clearly, give you credibility, connect you with 
your customers, and motivate customers to buy in to your brand. We believe 
adding the 'Fort Lauderdale' brand will provide that to the A1A Marathon," 
explained Mathew Lorraine CEO of Exclusive Sports Marketing. 

The 3rd Annual Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon & Half Marathon is scheduled 
for Sunday, February 17, 2008.  The start of the marathon is in downtown 
Fort Lauderdale in front of the Museum of Discovery and Science and
