Press Release - Air Force Marathon - 12/12/11

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

B-2 Spirit to Fly 2012 Marathon

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber will
be the featured aircraft for the 2012 Air Force Marathon.

The iconic batwing shaped aircraft is scheduled to make a flyover on Sept.
15 at the launch of the full Marathon race and will be prominently
displayed on all official Marathon gear, including the highly coveted
finisher's medal racers receive after crossing the long 26.2-mile road to
the finish line.

"It is really exciting to have such an amazing aircraft fly over," said
Molly Louden, Marathon director. "If you have never seen one in person, I'm
certain it will leave a lasting impression. There just isn't anything like
it in the air."

Aircraft flyovers during all the races is just one of the many unique
aspects of the Air Force Marathon. Year after year, runners cite it as a
key source of inspiration.

Registration for the 2012 Marathon begins at 12 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2012 with a
special one-day rate. The 2011 race sold out in record time and officials
are bracing for an early rush on registration.

"I'm telling everyone to please register early. We had so many people that
missed out last year due to the early sellout and I just want everyone to
have the opportunity to experience this amazing race," Ms. Louden said.

Although an additional 1,500 spots were added bringing the potential 2012
field to 15,000 runners, race officials fully expect to sell out based on
the rate of recent growth.

will be held Sept. 15 at the National Museum of the United States Air
Force. Participants start and finish at the National Air Force Museum, and
spectators are welcome at the museum or in downtown Fairborn. Other events
include a half marathon and 10K to be held on the 15th. The Air Force 5K
hosted by Wright State University will be run on Sept. 14 at the Wright
State University Nutter Center. The Sports and Fitness Expo will also be
held at the Nutter Center on Sept. 13-14.
