Press Release - Akron Marathon - 1/10/12

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Akron Marathon Hires Jim Chaney as Associate Race Director

Akron, Ohio (January 10, 2012) – The Akron Marathon, sponsored by Time
Warner Cable, has hired Jim Chaney to fill the newly formed position of
associate race director and bolster the marathon's level of excellence.

In this new position, Chaney uses his leadership skills, vast experience in
planning running events and project management capabilities to help
promote, organize and manage the event.

Chaney took on the role of special projects consultant for the marathon in
2011. Prior to that, he held volunteer positions including Jeff Galloway
Training Program coordinator, course sector chief and Women's National 8K
Championship committee member.

"Jim has already brought a wealth of leadership and racing experience to
the team," said Jim Barnett, race director. "As associate race director,
he will help us continue to provide a world-class racing experience for
every participant."

Chaney is involved in every aspect of race day, from planning course maps,
securing permits, managing the road closing schedule, start line and finish
line set-up and logistics. He is also responsible for outreach, training
programs, website management, social media communications and the gear bag
program.

A well-respected figure in the running community, Chaney began his love for
competitive running while attending Copley High School, where he
established the school record in the 800-meter run, which he held for 22
years. He later became head coach of the school's cross country team.

Chaney is a graduate of Ohio University. His work history includes
positions in human resources and payroll industries with clients including
Fortune 500 companies.

Chaney is the founder of Chaney Event Management, a full-service race
management and timing company. He has been instrumental in managing and
providing race timing services to more than 40 events per year.

A member of the Summit Athletic Running Club, Chaney is a competitive
masters (age 40 and older) runner. He has served on the Summit Athletic
Board in several capacities including race services, membership and website
coordinator.

Chaney is a member of the Clif Bar pace team, is part of the Brooks ID
program and represents the Vertical Runner Race Team in events ranging in
distance from 5K to 100 miles.

The Akron Marathon includes a Full Marathon; a Half Marathon, presented by
Acme Fresh Markets; a Team Relay, presented by Novo Nordisk; and a Kids Fun
Run, making it ideal for all levels of athleticism. It will take place
Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Registration for each event within the Akron Marathon is capped and is
available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are encouraged
to take advantage of the lowest rates of the year and register by February
29. Registration rates increase March 1. Participants can register today
