Press Release - Bay of Fundy Marathon - 2/26/14

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

         Bay of Fundy International Marathon & 10K - June 15, 2014

The second annual Bay of Fundy International Marathon, the only marathon on
the east coast spanning both the US and Canada, will be held on June 15,
2014. Registration is now open at bayoffundymarathon.com. This is a fully
certified and chipped course(US and Canada), making it a Boston marathon
qualifying event, offering a challenge for experienced runners and fun for
beginners.

The scenery of the area- Downeast Maine and Campobello Island, NB is
unmatched, with some of the highest tides in the world, whales, eagles and
four lighthouses on the course. The race begins at the most eastern point
of the US, West Quoddy Head State Park and runs through Roosevelt
Campobello International Park to the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse and back.
June boasts normally cool temperatures with mists from the Bay of Fundy and
Labrador current.

This race is a community organized event, benefiting the Campobello Island
Recreation Council; small with less than 2000 runners; friendly, local
accommodations; and provides pre-clearance by the border agencies. Unique
awards are handcrafted by local artists and will include a sea urchin based
design for the finisher’s medal. Walkers are welcome with an 8 hour maximum
finish time and plentiful aid stations.

The official race Expo and Pre-race Pasta Supper will take place on
Saturday at Lubec School to be followed on Sunday by a Street Fair at the
northern end of Water Street featuring local artists and craftspeople and
food vendors. The Community Fun Run will again start at the Lost
Fishermen’s Memorial Park at 8.45am Sunday and finish at the main event
finish line in the middle of Water Street.
