                 Bhutan International Marathon Running Retreat

The Sister Marathon Peace Initiative is a community of international 
marathons and their collective runners who explore the world through 
running events, destination retreats and homestay exchanges across the 
globe. Our community consists of race directors, volunteers, fans and 
athletes of all levels who want to experience their passion for running 
with the excitement of exploring other countries and cultures. We stand to 
bring peace and goodwill to the world through the sport of running.

In promoting partner races around the world, the Initiative aims to build 
lasting friendships and promote crosscultural,understanding that will serve 
to bring the world closer together. The Sister Marathon Peace Initiative is 
a not-for-profit organization. Proceeds from sales are donated back into 
the communities where we run, to make a positive difference to the lives of 
others.

Currently the Sister Marathon Peace Initiative is showcasing the Bhutan 
International Marathon for March 1st thru 7th, 2017.

We're thrilled to announce that accompanying us on our trip will be 
world-renowned ultramarathon champion Scott Jurek. Scott will provide 
coaching sessions and training advice for participants, covering topics 
such as running technique and strengthening. Running seminars and 
adventures will be held, and in addition Scott will discuss his plant-based 
diet and how he maintains it as an elite athlete. Cooking classes will also 
be provided.

Marathon race directors from the US will also be attending and 
participating in the Bhutan International Marathon with our members. Those 
joining us in Shangri-La will learn how to train smarter, race better and 
tap into their fullest running potential, with empowering guidance provided 
by our team of highly experienced and knowledgeable coaches.

Furthermore our members will be running through the mystic Himalayas on one 
of the most majestic marathon courses in the world. On the 42.2km or 21.1km 
journey through stunning rural villages, runners will discover the 
geographical and cultural wonders of a country naturally designed to be a 
tantalizing destination for adventure and spiritual seekers, before 
finishing at the historic Punakha Fortress.

The seven day retreat will allow members to be truly inspired by 
environmental and cultural marvels. They will experience the wonders of the 
high mountains and deep valleys where compassion and wisdom are the
benchmarks against which all things are measured. They will be immersed in 
the ancient and harmonious Buddhist traditions resonating in all living 
things and where the King rules by “Gross National Happiness."

We're asking for running enthusiasts to join our Initiative (it's free!) 
and also join us in the Kingdom of Bhutan. Race with us, cheer with us or 
volunteer with us; everyone is welcome to join our trip.

The Sister Marathon Peace Initiative currently consists of 24 marathon 
partners, and will be expanding to 50 in 2017 (25 in the United States and 
25 internationally). We currently have a collective access to 800,000 
runners globally.
