Novant Health Charlotte Marathon Donates $25,000 to Children’s Hospital
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – April 18, 2016 – The Novant Health Charlotte Marathon
(formerly the Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon) made a $25,000 donation
to Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.
Since 2013, the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon has donated $59,000 to
Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital Child Life Program. With its team
of child life specialists, the Child Life Program supports children and
their families during hospitalization in areas including: pediatrics, St.
Jude Affiliate Clinic at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU), children’s emergency room and outpatient
surgery.
“We greatly appreciate this generous donation from the Novant Health
Charlotte Marathon,” said Elizabeth Gray, child life program coordinator at
Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital. “This gift enables us to further
support our child life program and team in providing events, activities and
education to help children and their families maintain a sense of normal
living patterns and minimize stress during hospitalization.”
Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital includes a 35-bed general pediatric
unit and an eight-bed pediatric intensive care unit, as well as a
fully-equipped indoor playroom, covered outside playground area, theater
and teen room. Child life activities range from weekly ice cream sundae
parties, movie nights and holiday parties, to visits from celebrities and
dignitaries, arts programs and bereavement programs.

donation is further supporting programs and services for children and their
