Title Sponsors Return to Houston Marathon Weekend
Under Armour new official merchandise provider
HOUSTON (Nov. 1, 2010) - The Houston Marathon Committee is excited to
announce the return of 5K and half marathon title sponsors El Paso
Corporation and Aramco Services Company to the Chevron Houston Marathon
race weekend lineup through 2013 and 2014 respectively.
"Through the generous support of our sponsors, our event has significantly
grown in popularity and has become a favorite racing destination for
thousands of runners world-wide," said Steven Karpas, managing director of
business development and marketing of the Houston Marathon Committee. "And
given the economic challenges we're facing, having two title sponsors
commit to multi-year agreements just further shows the value our event
provides to our partners."
Aramco Services Company, the U.S.-based subsidiary of the world's leading
oil producing and exporting company, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, will
host the 2011 USA Half Marathon Championships on Saturday, January 29, one
day prior to the 39th running of the Chevron Houston Marathon. The 2011
championship race marks Aramco's seventh and fifth year to support the
men's and women's sanctioned USATF event.
El Paso Corporation, one of the country's largest independent natural gas
producers, continues to be an integral part of the Chevron Houston Marathon
race weekend of events for more than a decade. Prior to supporting the 5K,
El Paso sponsored the inaugural Houston Half Marathon.
Under Armour and The Sports Authority have also extended their commitment
to our event through 2016. In addition to providing performance shirts to
all marathon and half marathon finishers, Under Armour is the new official
merchandise provider of the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston
Half Marathon.
Houston-based H-E-B, one of the nation's largest independently owned food
retailers, also returns as a proud sponsor of the 2011 Chevron Houston
Marathon race weekend of events.
More than 22,000 runners have registered to participate in the Chevron
Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, EP5K and ABB Team Challenge
on Sunday, January 30, 2011.
