HOUSTON (September 26, 2016) - The Houston Marathon Committee announced
today that the 45th annual Chevron Houston Marathon and the 16th Aramco
Houston Half Marathon have both sold out for the 12th consecutive year. The
largest single-day sporting event in Houston will be conducted on Sunday,
January 15, 2017, of race weekend and feature over 250,000 runners,
volunteers and spectators.

"The amazing civic enhancements to downtown Houston and the Convention
District will be completed in anticipation of Super Bowl LI three weeks
following our event, and we are so excited to showcase this beautiful new
footprint during our annual running celebration," said Wade Morehead,
Executive Director of the Houston Marathon Committee and Foundation. "The
City of Houston provides the ideal participant experience with all of our
race weekend events, including the start and finish lines, within walking
distance from nearly 7,000 hotel rooms and numerous new restaurants, which
are all accessible by public transportation."

Race weekend includes the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Sports Medicine
Institute EXPO (January 13-14), which will attract over 55,000 visitors and
120 vendors to the George R. Brown Convention Center over the first two
days. Additionally, the ABB 5K will feature 6,000 runners on Saturday
morning (January 14). The We Are Houston RunFest presented by Michelob
Ultra is conducted at Discovery Green during all three races on Saturday
and Sunday (January 14-15) providing fun, interactive events and
entertainment for runners, families, and spectators.

While the participant cap for both races has been reached at 27,000 (13,500
for both the half marathon and marathon) registrants, runners still have
the opportunity to enter both races through the Chevron Houston Marathon
Run for a Reason charity program. Charity entries are limited and available
on a first-come, first-served basis and allow runners to fundraise for one
of the 62 Official Run for a Reason charities. Details about how to
register can be found at RunforaReasonHouston.org.
