Icebreaker Indoor Marathon This Sunday
The third annual Icebreaker Indoor Marathon will be held this Sunday at
the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The field of
roughly 100 runners is expected to include last year's champion Matt Sveum
(39, Wauwatosa, Wis.) as well as runner up and defending women's champion
Julie Faylona (34, Baraboo, Wis.). Faylona is the favorite to win the Gold
Medal Challenge, which is a half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon
on Sunday.
Other notables in the marathon field include Dermot Fitzpatrick (41, West
Dundee, Ill.), Kyle Fraser (30, Milwaukee, Wis.), Matthew Jeromin (30,
Roselle, Ill.), 2009 women's champion Heather Kos (40, St. Charles, Ill.)
and 2009 runner-up Albertus Rohling (35, West Allis, Wis.).
The event sold out in two months this year and also includes a 5K, half
marathon and marathon relay, all of which are filled to capacity.
Over 800 runners from over 20 states and three countries are expected to
compete this weekend.
