Press Release - Koeln (Cologne) Marathon - 10/4/15

        Gelane Senbete and Benson Waweru win marathon in Cologne 
                        Best German athlete on #3 
   
Today’s RheinEnergieMarathon Cologne was determined by Benson Waweru from 
Kenya. 
He succeeded in overcoming the competitiors. Benson crossed the finish line 
at Cologne Cathedral in 2:16:03 hours as the first runner. Wubishet Zewde 
(Ethopia) became second in 2:16:22 hours in front of the Moroccan Khalid 
Lablaq (2:16:38). 

In the ladies’ race the Ethopian Gelane Senbete finished first. She won in 
2:37:33 hours prior to Fatiha Asmid (2:45:19) and the best German Anja 
Lamberty (2:53:27).  

Best German runner was Sebastian Reinwand on # 5 in 2:31:30 hours. 

A total of 5,999 runners have enrolled for the major competition, the 
marathon, approximately 600 more than in the previous year. Further, a half 
marathon (14,098 starters), a relay marathon (682 teams with 4 persons 
each) and a school marathon (255 teams with 6 starters each) took place on 
October 4, 2015 within the entire event.
