FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2022 TCS London Marathon ballot results announced
Entrants to the 2022 TCS London Marathon ballot receive their results
More than 350,000 people who entered the ballot to take part in the 2022
TCS London Marathon will discover their result today [Monday 14 March].
Those who have been successful will be able to start planning their
training for the event on Sunday 2 October, which will follow the iconic
course from Greenwich to Westminster.
For those who are unsuccessful in the ballot, however, all is not lost -
there are still other ways to take part in the 2022 TCS London Marathon,
from running for charity to taking on the virtual challenge.
Charity entry for the 2022 TCS London Marathon
Many charities still have places available in this year's mass event,
including the British Heart Foundation, the 2022 TCS London Marathon's
Charity of the Year. If you would like take part in this year's event while
raising funds for a cause close to your heart, you can find out more about
running for charity here.
The virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon
Those who missed a place in this year's ballot will also have an exclusive
eight-day window to enter the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon, which gives
participants the chance to take on 26.2 miles their way.
All virtual participants will have 24 hours to complete the distance on a
course of their choice - anywhere in the world - between 00:00 and 23:59:59
BST on Sunday 2 October, and all finishers will receive the same official
finisher's medal and New Balance T-shirt as those who complete the mass
event. To find out more about the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon, click

The start of a new marathon journey
Hugh Brasher, Event Director of the TCS London Marathon, said: "The 2021
London Marathon was the largest marathon ever staged anywhere in the world.
It was an incredible day full of joy and emotion as the mass event returned
to the streets of London and tens of thousands took part in the virtual
event around the globe.
"Today there will be thousands of people celebrating securing a ballot
place in the 2022 TCS London Marathon and looking forward to being part of
another incredible day on Sunday 2 October. We know there will be
disappointment, too, but an unsuccessful ballot result does not have to be
the end of the road.
"There are many wonderful charities looking for people to run this year's
TCS London Marathon and help raise crucial funds for their organisation.
The record-breaking virtual TCS London Marathon is back, and we are
offering a priority entry window to everyone who is unsuccessful in the
ballot so they can still be part of this wonderful event."
The TCS London Marathon ballot draw is completely random, just like the
National Lottery. For the first time, participants in the event will also
be able to set up their own bespoke fundraising page through Enthuse, the
official fundraising partner of London Marathon Events.
Following the eight-day priority window for unsuccessful ballot applicants
to book a place in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon, remaining places
in the virtual event will be made available to the general public on a
first-come, first-served basis from Tuesday 22 March.
