      The Marine Corps Marathon Health & Fitness Expo Will be Held 
         Over Three Days Oct. 27-29 at the DC Armory Just Prior to the 
                       36th MCM on Sunday, Oct. 30.

MCM Health & Fitness Expo to Expand to Three Days at DC Armory Free Event 
Features Latest in Exercise, Apparel, Products and Gear, Access to Experts 

QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 19, 2011) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is extending 
its annual Health & Fitness Expo presented by GE over three days prior to 
the 36th MCM, featuring the biggest showcase in exercise equipment, product 
sampling, health screening, fitness technologies, giveaways and unique 
access to running industry experts, like Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall. The 
Expo is free and open to the public from Oct. 27 through Oct. 29 at the DC 
Armory located at 2001 E. Capitol Street in Southeast Washington, D.C. with 
free parking available outside the Armory.

More than 100,000 attendees are expected to visit the Expo with 200-plus 
exhibitors offering the MCM apparel store hosted by Brooks; MCM10K 
presenting sponsor Aetna, offering free massages; USAA with limited edition 
36th MCM coins and proud MCM automobile sponsor Nissan, offering a chance 
to win the 100 percent electric Nissan LEAF and the opportunity to meet 
Olympic marathoner Ryan Hall, who will be at the Expo on Saturday, Oct. 29. 
As presenting sponsor, GE is showcasing the Achilles bone density scanner 
and In-Body body composition equipment. 

The Expo is free and open to the public: 

Thursday, Oct. 27 -- 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.	
Friday, Oct. 28 -- 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 29 -- 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All participants of the MCM, MCM10K and Healthy Kids Fun Run will pick up 
their race day materials during the three-day Expo. Each of the running 
events are completely sold out with 43,000 registered to participate. All 
participants must present their E-Confirmation card and photo ID to pick up 
their runner's bib with B-tag timing device, mock-neck shirt, event patch, 
UPS baggage claim sticker, the official race program "Salute" and weekend 
guide.

The kick off to MCM Weekend will occur during opening ceremonies at the 
Health & Fitness Expo beginning at 3:30 p.m., on Oct. 27. Marines from 
Marine Corps Base Quantico's Ceremonial Platoon will Present Colors, while 
the Quantico Party Band performs the National Anthem. 

The runners in front of the line at the Expo opening will compete for the 
first of 36 extra special Super Size goodie bags that will be randomly 
distributed at various MCM events throughout the weekend. Super Size goodie 
bag give-away times and locations will be posted on the MCM Facebook page 
and on Twitter. Runners will want keep tracking the Super Size bags on 
Facebook and Twitter to win. Super Size goodie bags are provided by 
priorLIFE(tm) -- a green company that recycles MCM finish line banners into 
tote bags.

Support the MCM's green initiatives and take the Metro to the Health & 
Fitness Expo via the blue or orange lines to the Stadium/Armory station. 
Free parking is also available in Lot #3 outside the DC Armory. 

Stuff the Bus Challenge
The MCM is joining the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign in its challenge 
to "Stuff the Bus" full of toys for girls and boys. All attendees to the 
Health & Fitness  Expo can bring a new toy appropriate for girls or boy up 
to age 15 with the goal to "Stuff the Bus" with plenty of goodies for the 
holidays. U.S. Marines from Toys for Tots in Washington, DC will be at the 
bus outside the front of the DC Armory collecting toys throughout the three 
days the Expo is open to the public. 

"Our goal is to completely stuff the bus inside and to also have enough 
toys to fill the luggage compartments underneath," says Staff Sgt. Eugene 
Sharpe, coordinator of the Stuff the Bus program. Marines from Toys for 
Tots also will be located at a booth inside the Expo.

Voted the best marathon for families, the Marine Corps Marathon honors the 
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from 
all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize 
money, earning the name, "The People's Marathon." The MCM, sponsored by 
Brooks, Nissan, Aetna, Arlington, VA and GE, is the fifth largest marathon 
in the United States and the ninth largest in the world. The 36th MCM will 
be held on Oct. 30 in Arlington, VA. No federal or Marine Corps endorsement 
is implied.
