Boeing Named a Presenting Sponsor of the 37th Marine Corps Marathon
The Boeing Company to Present MCM Runners Village on October 28
QUANTICO, VA (August 10, 2012) - The Boeing Company will be a presenting
sponsor of the 37th MCM on Oct. 28, 2012. Boeing is the seventh Fortune 100
company to sponsor the MCM, joining Aetna, UPS, Verizon, HP, GE and
Walmart.
"As we celebrate the centennial of Marine aviation this year, we are proud
to announce our sponsorship of the Marine Corp Marathon," says Chris
Chadwick, president of Boeing Military Aircraft. "In joining with the
Marines for this event, we hope to encourage healthy and active lifestyles
for our employees and all those involved."
The MCM starting ceremony features a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey flyover at the
conclusion of the national anthem. The Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft with
vertical takeoff and landing and short takeoff and landing capability.
Since its introduction to the U.S. Marine Corps fleet, the Osprey has been
deployed in combat and rescue operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

says Rick Nealis, Race Director. "Technological advances provided by Boeing
have allowed the Marine Corps to remain a strong fighting force, which, by
our association, assures continuing success for the MCM." Boeing will host
Runners Village - the pre-race gathering area with runner services
including the UPS Baggage drop, a water station, port-a-johns,
entertainment and nondenominational prayer services.
About the MCM: Voted the "Best Marathon for Families" and the "Best
Marathon in the Mid Atlantic," the Marine Corps Marathon honors the
dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from
all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize
money, earning the name "The People's Marathon." The 37th MCM will be held
on Oct. 28, 2012 in Arlington, VA. No federal or Marine Corps endorsement
is implied.
