Team Hoyt and AFT Director B. Todd Jones on MCM Start Line

QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 21, 2013) - Actress, humanitarian and international
spokesperson Maggie Q is making a special appearance welcoming participants
to this year's Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and taking center stage on the
MCM start line on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Arlington, VA. Maggie Q will serve as
an honorary starter for "The People's Marathon."

Known for her starring role in The CW Network and Warner Bros. Television's
hit drama series, "Nikita" (season premiere Friday, Nov. 22 at 9 p.m.
Eastern on The CW), Maggie also stars in the highly anticipated 2014
futuristic film, "Divergent." Her previous film credits include "Balls of
Fury," with Christopher Walken and George Lopez, "Live Free or Die Hard,"
with Bruce Willis, "Mission: Impossible 3," with Tom Cruise and "Around the
World in 80 Days," with Jackie Chan.

Born to a military family, Maggie's father served 20 years of active duty
in the Air Force maintaining high powered Defense Radars, and then made a
military career switch joining the U.S. Army. While an Army Intelligence
officer, he spent five years serving in Vietnam.

Maggie will arrive to the Marine Corps Marathon with two family friends who
happen to be U.S. Marines, a father and son who served in two different
eras. Lance Cpl. Anthony Thomas served just over three years processing
Marine recruits into boot camp at Parris Island, while his father, Richard
Thomas, served with fellow Marines in the Tet Offensive in Vietnam,
experiencing significant combat.

Joining Maggie during opening ceremonies at the MCM start is B. Todd Jones,
Director, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Director Jones, who was sworn-in as the first Senate confirmed ATF Director
in August; served 15 years on active duty and in the Marine Corps Reserve.
He began serving in 1982, initially as an Infantry Officer with the 1st
Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment. Following law school, Jones served as a
Judge Advocate with the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, CA. In 1989,
he joined the Reserves and was recalled to active duty in January of 1991,
during Operation Desert Storm. Following release from active duty, Major
Jones continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve until 1998.

Also acknowledged at the MCM start will be Team Hoyt, the father-son duo
Dick and Rick Hoyt who began officially running marathons at the MCM in
1982, earning their career marathon finish of 2:40:47 at the 1992 MCM. Now
age 51, Rick Hoyt, is a model of remarkable courage having lived with
Cerebral Palsy since birth, while his father Dick, age 73, has been guiding
him along every mile of 1,100 running events including marathons,
duathlons, Ironman competitions and many other distances. During MCM
Weekend, Team Hoyt will be inducted into the MCM Hall of Fame for their
dedication to running, unwavering perseverance and their love of "The
People's Marathon." In addition, the Hoyts will be at the Health & Fitness
Expo from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The Expo will be held inside
the DC Armory.

The 38th MCM also will include a sky dive into the start line just before
30,000 participants begin their marathon journey from Arlington, VA and
throughout the nation's capital.
