     Marine Corps Marathon Participants to Enjoy Transportation Ease

         Metro Opens at 5 a.m. With Free Marathon-Day Shuttles for 
                         Runners and Spectators 

QUANTICO, VA (Oct. 16, 2014) - Arriving at the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) 
and MCM10K on Sunday, Oct. 26 is easy for the thousands of runners and 
spectators who will enjoy early and extended Metro service beginning at 5 
a.m. on Marathon Day. The MCM has partnered with Metro to offer the "OORAH" 
SmarTrip card that can be reused beyond MCM Weekend, which begins on 
Thursday, Oct. 23. In addition, free shuttle service is available 
throughout Marathon Day for MCM participants and spectators arriving at 
Runners Village that morning and from the Finish Festival. The 39th MCM 
will start on Route 110 in Arlington, while the MCM10K begins on the 
National Mall in the Washington, DC. Both events start at 7:55 a.m.  

Metro
All MCM participants should take the Blue or Yellow line to the Pentagon 
Station to access Runners Village located in the Pentagon North parking 
lot. Event signage will direct runners to UPS Baggage Drop Off and to the 
Route 110 start line in Arlington, VA. The Arlington Cemetery Station 
(Blue) will not open until 8:30 a.m. on event morning. This Metro station 
will serve spectators immediately following the Marathon start and those 
exiting the event throughout the day. 

The MCM10K start is located near the Smithsonian Metro (Blue) on the 
National Mall in Washington, DC.

Parking
On Sunday, Oct. 26, free parking is available in Crystal City at the corner 
of 23rd and Crystal Drive. Runners and spectators can also use Parking 
Panda to reserve and pay for guaranteed parking through their smart phone. 
Parking Panda, the nation's leader in online reservations, guarantees 
vehicle spaces at garages and parking lots throughout Arlington and 
Washington, DC. 

Pre-Event Shuttles
Free shuttles are available for runners and spectators starting at 5 a.m. 
from the Crystal City, VA parking area (listed above) to Runners Village in 
the Pentagon North parking lot.  

Post-Event Shuttles
Runners and spectators can depart from the Finish Festival in Rosslyn and 
return directly to the parking area in Crystal City. These shuttles are 
parked at the corner of Oak Street and Wilson Boulevard in the Finish 
Festival. 

MCM transportation continued
Post-Event Taxi Service
The taxi stand will be located near Family Link-up in the Finish Festival 
on the corner of 19th and Lynn Streets. Taxi service is not free of charge, 
but taxis are continuously running throughout Marathon Day.

People's Marathon," runners from all walks of life participate in the MCM,
