Press Release - Marine Corps Marathon - 9/28/20

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Big Names Added to MCM Audio Experience Presented by USAA

Run Virtually with the Marine Corps Marathon Audio Experience by Motigo

QUANTICO, VA (September 28, 2020) - The Marine Corps Marathon Organization
(MCMO) is proud to once again partner with Motigo to offer all virtual
runners the opportunity to hear the authentic sounds of the actual event
while running the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) in locations across the
country.

MCM, MCM50K and MCM10K runners will hear specially recorded motivational
messages as they reach designated mile markers. Some messages are
inspirational; others will share what historic landmarks runners would be
passing were they running the actual courses in Arlington, VA and the
nation's capital.

The special audio messages will play alongside the music or whatever else
runners are listening to in their earbuds on the virtual run. Runners will
hear the actual MCM emcee make the official start line motivational
announcements; get cheer messages from MCM Director Rick Nealis and Col
Will Bentley, Commander, Marine Corps Base Quantico; hear special shout
outs from Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy
and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), actor Patton Oswalt, Washington Capitals
announcer Joe Beninati, host of Wait, Wait…Don't Tell Me! Peter Sagal and
Olympic medalist Shalane Flanagan; get helpful guidance from the MCM
Psyching Team; and share a moment of tribute with wear blue. Runners can
also invite their own friends and family to record cheer messages
specifically for them.

The MCM Audio Experience sponsored by USAA is a free service via the Motigo
app and is available beginning on September 27. Additional information and
instructions are available at www.marinemarathon.com and www.getmotigo.com.

Entries are still available for the 45th MCM, MCM50K, MCM10K and Semper
Fun Mile. In addition to marking its 45th anniversary, this year's MCM
commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima by featuring
actual volcanic ash collected at that site within the event medal.
