New York, May 26, 2022 - New York Road Runners (NYRR) will offer
opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in Global
Running Day on Wednesday, June 1 with a celebratory Open Run in Morningside
Park, a Rising New York Road Runners Field Day for youth at Icahn Stadium,
and a virtual 5K for people looking to join in on the festivities from
around the world.

Global Running Day, held annually on the first Wednesday of June, is a
worldwide celebration of running that encourages everyone of all ages and
abilities to get moving and be active.

"Global Running Day is a celebration that brings people and communities
together around the world through their shared passion for running and
staying active," said NYRR CEO Kerin Hempel. "This year, NYRR is excited to
engage local runners of all ages across New York City's five boroughs to
showcase the transformative power of running, and also to provide a virtual
race platform to connect with our running communities near and far."

Runners can be a part of NYRR's Global Running Day events in the following
ways:

- NYRR Open Runs: A special NYRR Open Run, which is a free, community-led
fun run and walk, will take place at Morningside Park in Manhattan to kick
off the day. The NYRR Open Run program launched in 2015, and since then has
had more than 18,000 participants across the five boroughs. There are
currently 13 Open Run sites operating, with two more expected to relaunch
this year coming out of the pandemic.

- Rising New York Road Runners Field Day: Nearly 1,000 kids from the Rising
New York Road Runners program across the five boroughs will come together
for fun running and fitness activities to celebrate the day at Icahn
Stadium.

- Virtual NYRR Global Running Day 5K: Those who are not in NYC or unable to
attend any in-person events can join in on the celebrations by taking part
in the Virtual NYRR Global Running Day 5K anytime from May 28 - June 5.
Kids looking to participate virtually have the option to sign up for the
Virtual Global Running Day 1 Mile Kids Run during the same time frame.
NYRR's virtual races, powered by Strava, allow runners anywhere in the
world to run a race at their convenience in a location of their choice over
a specified period of time.

NYRR is one of several running organizations around the world hosting
events and celebrations to bring people together through running on June 1.
Other events can be found at GlobalRunningDay.org.
